About era years

Reign titles were widely used from the Han dynasty onward. A new emperor or dynasty usually declared a new title and restarted the count at year one. This table converts by whole year, so an event recorded late in a year may fall in the next Gregorian year. It covers commonly used era names, not every title ever proclaimed.

The sexagenary cycle counts 4 AD as the first year (甲子) and repeats every 60 years; historical records often pair it with the era year.
